Resumen:   Professor Sonja Tirkkonen-Condit has played a central role in creating a unique, empirically-oriented research profile for the Savonlinna School of Translation Studies in the University of Joensuu. The School as an independent university department ceased to exist in August 2006, joining together with the Foreign Languages Department at Joensuu to form the Department of Foreign Languages and Translation Studies- However, it seems appropriate to celebrate Professor Tirkkonen-Condit's remarkable contribution to Translation Studies by this collection of articles in the last volume of the Savonlinna School of Translation Studies publication series. The articles deal with research focusing on the central themes of Professor Tirkkonen-Condit's work: text linguistics, translation processes, and corpus-based translation research. [Source: Editors]
