Resumen:   This study grey out of requests from directors and actors for advice on translations or adaptations of Molière that might be suitable for the modern Scottish theatre. Scripts are rarely reviewed, and, in many cases, remain unpublished. The correlation between text and performance is still a largely uncharted area in Molière studies, somewhat surprising, in a time when authority of the text has been replaced by that of the director, in France and elsewhere. My investigations into the reception of Molière in Scotland, which have been concentrated on the postwar period between 1945 and 1990, have thrown up an unexpected number of scripts, in itself an indication of the substantial contribution made by Molière's work to the development of contemporary Scottish theatre.
