Resumen:   The present study consists in descriptive research analyzing the structure of terminology units of a Letras-Libras Glossary. The main motivation was the creation of a major in Libras at UFSC, as well as the author's participation in its Translation team and the project in development for a Letras-Libras Glossary. Data was collected from the first version of the Glossary, constructed between 2008 and 2010. Its objectives involve identifying and describing cherological and morphological elements in terminology units in Libras, as well as retaking seminal investigations on the linguistic description of Sign Languages, proposing a reflection on the terminology used for the linguistic analysis of sign languages in both cherological and morphological levels. In order to define an analysis framework, other sign language descriptive models were used as reference, such as frameworks by Stokoe (1960, 1965) and Battison (1974, 1978). Gaps were identified in the terminology proposed by both classic and recent specialized literature to describe some phenomena in the analyzed data, which has generated the need to propose other terms and retake others, such as chereme. Additionally, based on the results, naming an intermediate sign formation process was also proposed in the continuum between composition and derivation, named agglomeration. Results created an opportunity for both the validation of propositions presented in the specialized literature and the questioning and contesting of others. Some of these results were applied onto the Letras-Libras Glossary in parallel, with the possibility of others being implemented soon, in order to contribute with more effective bidirectional access to the glossary.
