Resumen:   Translation as it functions in the space between two cultures has a significant role to play in either representing the source culture intact or in appropriating it to the target culture. While the linguistic constraints pose no serious threat to the overall integrity of the SL text, it is the cultural constraints and the manipulations that take place deliberately which alter the image of the original and present it in a completely new light and ambience. Here is a vast area that can be investigated from several perspectives and ideological standpoints going into the inner depths of the psyche of the translators and the whole set of parameters in which they operate.
