Resumen:   In this book I want to offer an alternative paradigm for the study of translation - one that is not mentalist but explicitly and complexly physicalist. [...] I hope to show that, even apart from recent neurological research, the ideological (philosophical, intellectual) and social (interpersonal, practical) implications of a somatic approach to language are staggering. An open-minded look at the somatics of linguistic communication, and specifically of that cross- linguistic communication that we call translation, can unlock the stubborn cellblock doors that have imprisoned translation studies in the past.
