This journal is built as a forum for exchanging and publishing academic considerations about translation studies. From the second issue on, this journal is particularly dedicated to publishing the collected papers from the Conference for the Teaching of Translation and Interpretation held annually in turns by GITI of NTNU, GITIS of FJU and DTI of CJCU. Under this circumstance, despite that this association is not funded by any academic institute of translation studies, there still is a strong link between this journal and these academic institutes.
At present, STI publishes one volume each year, twelve volumes in total (from 1996 to 2009). There are 136 articles in these twelve volumes, with 44 articles related to interpretation and 92 articles to translation. This journal can be seen as the one of the most detailed documentation of the academic discourses which develops along with the establishment of academic translation institutes in Taiwan.
