Resumen:   Taking into account the translation process of William Blake‘s works in the Brazilian literary system, this dissertation discusses a proposed translation of Milton, one of the three major prophecies written by the author, as a possibility of a rewriting which is complementary to the existing Brazilian rewritings of the English poet. The comparison of the translation of Milton and the translation of the same book made by Manuel Portela (Blake, 2009b) provide data for this discussion. For the proposal of the translation presented in this dissertation, rhythm, punctuation, use of adjectives, repetitions, alliterations, consonances, and proper nouns are identified as some of the features relevant in the totality of the Milton text. The critical study on the work and its author is considered to be essential to the translation strategies at the textual level as well as to the overall outcome of the rewriting . [Source: Author]
