Resumen:   In this research, the reception of the Italian translation of the book Grande Sertão: Veredas (1956) by João Guimarães Rosa, by Edoardo Bizzarri and published in Italy in 1970 by Feltrinelli, is discussed. The description is made under three aspects: the materiality of the book, the linguistic perspective and the mythological dimension. From this last one was created in this thesis the notion of mitotraduction, based on the novalisian theory of mythic translation and in the conception of novel mitomórfico of Benedito Nunes. The text in Italian language was analyzed according to the Descriptive Studies of the Translation, in line of Gideon Toury, and the models of description suggested by Lawrence Venuti, sighting the way in which the translator becomes co-author. The correspondence between Rosa and Bizzarri is seen as a guide followed in the translation process. Reception of the translation in Italy, especially in Rome, is analyzed through interviews with university readers and members of the general public. [Source: KAFC]
