Resumen:   A classification system is proposed for the research conducted on translation during the last decade in Costa Rica. An effort has been made to go beyond previous typologies, with the purpose of establishing categories and analyzing the corpus from new viewpoints. The main corpus is made up of nearly one hundred studies on translation and on interpretation carried out in the Master's in Translation of the National University of Costa Rica. This research is on a variety of topics since translation studies is an interdisciplinary field due to its interaction with the specialties of the translated texts. First, this project deals with the design and development of an expandable database on the research conducted in Costa Rica on translation and interpretation; second, it involves the analysis of the studies included in the database, in order to discuss the main areas covered and the tendencies present in translation studies in Costa Rica. In addition, this makes it possible to introduce issues open for future research. [Source: Author]
