Resumen:   This work's topic of study is the translation of song lyrics, especially the theoretical foundations that support it and justify the decisions that are made during the process. There are numerous translation studies works on some specific aspect of music-linked translation. In this case, however, the translation of popular song lyrics is the focus. Song lyrics are viewed as texts that are conditioned by the socio-linguistic environment in which they are created. Translating song lyrics requires understanding such texts at many levels. Hence, the main objective of this work is to identify, compile and analyze the multidisciplinary theories that support understanding and later translating them. Furthermore, it aims to present such theory in a pyramid that allows the decision-making process entailed in translating song lyrics to be understood comprehensively. This paper's main contribution to the area of translation studies is precisely the pyramid constructed throughout the work. It considers fields of study such as culture, history, translation studies, music and computer science since each of them plays an important role in the translation of song lyrics. [Source: Author]
