Resumen:   Point of view (POV) constitutes an important element of the overall meaning of every text and, as such, it should be adequately rendered in translation. […] Unlike other theories, the cognitive model of language incorporates the category of POV and investigates its linguistic manifestations. A correlate of Langacker's subjectification, POV is analysed as a scalar phenomenon whose manifestations range from lexical and morphosyntactic markers to the overall “logic of reading”, where interpretations concerning POV are imposed by linguistic and extralinguistic context. A case study, presented in this paper, shows how various cues conspire to create a particular POV may change in translation and how making students sensitive to the problem might improve their performance.
